5 Creative Things Feb 24, 2014

Since we did a project on packaging, I thought I would take that theme this week.

Fit Buns

This design is creative because it is playful and unexpected. Even though bread would get rid of a six pack, it gives the illusion that, maybe, by eating the bread you’ll be fit.

The Egg Cartridge

This design is creative because it uses less cardboard than the normal egg packaging. Also it solves the problem of having to lift the box to check out the eggs. Now you can see them and know exactly what you’re getting.

The Coffee Carrier

This packaging is creative because it is in a different shape than a normal coffee carrier. The handle makes it easier to carry, and now one can have more than four coffee cups with them.

The Every Packaging

This packing is creative because it can fit almost any shape. It solves the problem of having an awkward object to wrap. Now with limited cardboard, it can protect one’s object with ease.

The Simple Coffee Packaging

This packaging is creative because it is simple. It is no more, no less. It lessens the amount of cardboard used all while carrying the necessary products with it.

The Quadropus Take Away Project

We were assigned a take away project for a tangible object. I wanted to create packaging for a muffin and a cup of coffee. In order to come up with a create idea, I used some idea generating processes to be inspired. First, I used word association and at first I was coming up with words like comfort and flow when associated with coffee. Then I took a different path and ended up with octopus. I sketched out some of my word association ideas. Then, I researched some previous designs to see how tabbing systems worked. In the end, I came up with an adhesive free, novel design that is cute enough to perk up one’s morning.

Buzzy Pain Relief System

I was thinking of ideas to make it easier on kids when they go to the doctor. I came up with the the idea to make a cute animal be the one to give the shot. It turns out a similar concept was just invented, patented and show on Shark Tank. It is creative because it solves the problem the pain that comes with shots.

Rapid Ramen Cooker

photo_1_1024x1024 (1)This is a creative product because it gets rid of the problem that most college aged people have. Having the right pot to cook ramen. This get’s rid the messy pots and pans and makes for an easy clean up. Now one can go for the even cheaper ramen, no problem, because of this unique microvable cooking pan.

I wish I could be a kid again making my own lunches with this new product. It is like a bento box in that it has different compartments and is washable. It doesn’t use cloth materials so it is easy to clean. It is creative because it is customizable to kid’s taste, it’s completely dishwasher safe, and it is sustainable.

DIY Crampon

This design is simple and easy to follow. It’s not necessarily a product, but more of an idea. It’s a Crampon. Since it is snowing so much theses days, it might be a good idea to create one of these. It is creative because it is innovative. It is creating a simpler solution to a pre-existing product.

Hot Dog Slicer

This product is my favorite, and I actually own one. It’s a hot dog slicer. It gets rid of the problem of potentially choking on your hot dogs. Although I am past the point of choking on food, I use it for special recipes that use hot dogs. It’s creative because it’s cute, useful and it cuts hot dogs into smaller pieces effortlessly.

Paper Lashes

This product has been fascinating to me for a couple years, but I’m too scared to try it. They are paper lashes. They are mostly used for photo shoots and costume parties. They are creative because they don’t use plastics or hairlike material, they use paper. It is easy to dispose of and it is intricate and beautiful.

5 Creative Designs/Ideas Feb 3rd, 2014

Snaak: Millions of Shapes

This innovative design let’s you create your own 3-dimensional designs. It is creative because it leaves the design to the user. It’s better then legos because it can be built on all sides.

Although this design isn’t new at all, I still think it’s highly creative. Blake Mycoskie created a company that gives back one shoe for every shoe it creates. Although the simple design isn’t necessarily creative, the business model was. Not very many companies would even consider giving their profits way for now return benefit. Luckily Blake’s design caught on and so they can support the shoe-less across the globe.

Car Yoga

This design mixes mechanical with organic forms. It’s called car yoga. Chris Labrooy combined different cars to create sculptural work that look like the positions you’d see in yoga. His designs are creative because it isn’t an idea reiterated. It combines two different ideas and makes it into a more creative one.

Dry Erase Notebook

This design is creative because it combines a dry erase board with a notebook. It considers the environment and the fact that most students need a new notebook for every subject, every semester. This design can be written on and easily swept way for fast clean up. Overall, this design makes wasting paper a thing of the past.
